A few days ago, a friend asked me if I could draw something scary.
I told him that, for as much as I liked cute drawings, I had a really hard time coming up with them naturally, because I feel like the inside of my brain is a really confusing place.
Here’s an example:
The other day, I dreamt that Macaulay Culkin was a vampire who, for some reason, protected me from Natasha Lyonne – ALSO a vampire (how recurrent is her in my texts btw?).
Macaulay and I were arrested because of something Natasha had done, apparently because we thought that was the right thing to do. I mean, the guy had vampire super-powers, he could break out of that thing at anytime!
At some point, one of the girls from my cell – who were all by the way people I went to high school with – told everyone to stay close to me, because I had important friends. I was confused.
Natasha finds me and starts a really long monologue before she tries to kill me, you know, super villain style.
At the end, Macaulay, who was there but I couldn’t see, stabs her from the back and smiles at me.
As we hug (for some reason (?)) he realizes I’ve GOT SUPER VAMPIRE POWERS TOO.
I KNOW, right? Talk about your plot twists…
But my point is, this is what’s actually going on in my subconscious, I suppose, as I try to draw cute cartoons for my daughters.
Well, that’s about it! Good night, world! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a sequence to this dream and I’ll keep you posted!
*Note to self: Removing the link for this blog from my resumé is probably a smart choice.
